A sunrise photo shoot on Miami Beach makes for great maternity photos.

I love being a professional photographer, even if it means waking up at 5am to get great sunrise photos.  I had a gorgeous early morning photo shoot on the beach a few weeks ago.  The sky was incredible and the mom-to-be was a natural in front of the camera. I call that a recipe for success – and these maternity photos are proof.

I’m looking forward to meeting and photographing the baby next month!   These are a few of my favorites from this early morning shoot.  I even submitted the last photo to my favorite forum, Learn Shoot Inspire, and it was chosen for their photo of the day!

Expectant moms, remember to schedule your maternity photos around 32 to 36 weeks of pregnancy.

These types of sunrise photos are really a photographers dream. I have been very fortunate to have an extra “weather” gene since I was a kid.  My family is always shocked how accurate I am following the weather patterns. As a photog living in South Florida for many years — I welcome the beautiful clouds and colors that storms bring. I guess you could say I am like a surfer – I can’t let a good storm go to waste.

This sweet baby boy spent his first weeks in the NICU after arriving a little earlier than expected. His parents invited me in to capture those tiny details—the fingers wrapped around theirs, the peaceful moments in between the beeps and wires, the love that filled that room.

I’m so happy to share that he’s home now, healthy and thriving—and we just finished his newborn session in the studio (stay tuned for those photos!).

Every family’s journey looks a little different, and it’s an honor to help preserve these first chapters. 💫
