Should we shoot in the studio or an outdoor location for our maternity photoshoot?

Hi there! I’m Stephanie Anders, a Miami-based photographer. Today I want to talk about a question I get asked a lot: Should we shoot in the studio or an outdoor location for our maternity photoshoot?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question because it ultimately depends on the type of shoot you’re looking for. So, let’s weigh the pros and cons of each option to help you make the best decision for your needs.

Studio Pros:

  • Control: In the studio I have complete control over the lighting, temperature, and atmosphere. This allows me to create the perfect setting for your shoot.
  • Privacy: Shooting in the studio means we won’t have any interruptions from bystanders or unexpected weather.

Studio Cons:

  • Lack of natural light: While I have the ability to manipulate light in the studio, it can be difficult to achieve the same natural-looking lighting that can be found outdoors.
  • Limited space: There may be some limitations on how much movement we can make during the shoot like throwing fabrics.

Outdoor Pros:

  • Natural light: Outdoor locations provide beautiful, natural light that can be hard to replicate in a studio.
  • Variety: Miami has plenty of gorgeous locations to choose from. Whether it’s the beach, parks, or city streets, and they all provide unique backdrops.
  • Space: There’s no limitations on space. We can move around and try different poses and angles to get the perfect shot.

Outdoor Cons:

  • Weather: While we can plan around the weather, there’s always a chance of unexpected rain or wind.
  • Distractions: Shooting outdoors can come with its own set of distractions like crowds, noise, and unexpected events.

Should we shoot in the studio or an outdoor location for our maternity photoshoot?

Ultimately, the decision between a studio and an outdoor location will depend on your personal preferences, the type of shoot you’re looking for, and the time of day. Regardless of which option you choose, I’ll work with you to create stunning photos that capture you and your beautiful bump.

To all of the incredible moms I’ve had the honor of photographing over the years — thank you. 🤍

These Mother’s Day mini sessions were such a beautiful reminder of how much love, strength, patience, and joy mothers pour into their families every single day. Watching these moments unfold in front of my camera is something I never take for granted.

Thank you for trusting me to capture your memories year after year, and for continuing to support my small business. Your loyalty means more to me than I can ever fully express. I truly wouldn’t be able to do what I love without all of you.

Wishing every mom a Mother’s Day filled with love, hugs, laughter, and maybe even a few quiet moments to yourself today. You deserve to be celebrated. 💕

I photographed this sweet family’s first newborn session, and they loved their images so much they filled their home with them — an album, wall art, and prints they get to see every single day.

So when they came back to me for their newest little one, it wasn’t just another session… it was continuing their story.

From the soft, sleepy newborn portraits to the love between mom, dad, and big brother — these are the moments that deserve more than just living on your phone. They deserve to be printed, held, and seen.

That’s why I guide my clients through creating something tangible after their session — albums for your babies to flip through one day, and artwork that becomes part of your home.

If you’re expecting, now is the time to book. Most clients reserve during pregnancy to guarantee a spot. #miaminewbornphotographer

Full-circle moments like this never get old 🤍

Four years ago, I photographed their maternity session in my studio… then their newborn… and now here we are again—this time on Miami Beach, morning light (not sunrise 😉), salty air, and one very proud big brother by their side.

There’s something extra special about photographing families as they grow. Same love, new chapter, just a different backdrop.

So grateful they trusted me again to tell this part of their story ✨#miamibeach #miamimaternityphotographer #miamimaternity #beachmaternity #miamipregnancyphotographer
