Bringing props to your newborn photography session

This little monkey made his way into a newborn photography portrait

I encourage my clients to add personal touches to their newborn photography sessions by bringing along special props.  One particular mom fell in love with a sock monkey and matching hat, and decided she must have it in her baby’s portraits.  It worked beautifully – so well that she donated the props to my studio for future clients!

This mom was a trooper and drove to my  Coconut Grove studio from Miami Beach all by herself with a days-old newborn in tow.  Dad wasn’t able to make it, but he’s looking forward to the 6 month shoot that the couple purchased as part of the Grow with Me package.  Click here for more information on my Grow with Me package.

I was really pleased with this newborn photo shoot.  The image of baby in the crook of mom’s neck (second image below) is one of my favorite images to date.

The composition, the perfectly curled baby, mom’s beautiful hair and the soft lighting all come together to create a perfect portrait. I was thrilled when she decided to order this as a big 20×30 canvas. In my opinion this is the perfect size canvas for above a crib. It is included in my most popular package and is a client favorite.

If you have a little one on the way, be sure to schedule your newborn photography as soon as possible.  Email me at steph@stephanieanders.com to arrange a booking.

Not every day is spent behind the camera. ☕💻

Today is an editing day—sorting through galleries, perfecting images, and putting the finishing touches on your memories. The photoshoot may only last an hour or two, but the work that happens afterward is where the magic comes together.

Back to editing! ✨

Those tiny fingers, sleepy stretches, and delicate newborn features change so quickly. My newborn sessions feature soft, simple posing with timeless wraps, neutral backdrops, and classic colors that keep the focus on your baby.

The best time for a newborn session is within the first 2 weeks after birth, when babies are sleepiest and most flexible for those classic newborn poses.

Don’t miss this fleeting stage. Once it’s gone, you can never get it back. 🤍
