Safety first with baby photos

Newborn safety is of utmost importance in my studio!

People are always asking me how I get newborns to pose for baby photos.  Many are surprised when they realize how many steps are actually involved each pose.  I firmly believe in putting safety first, so I always use a second (and sometimes third) set of hands for some of my more complicated newborn poses.  You can’t see this in the final image below, but both mom and dad were helping their sweet little baby boy stay safe in the gorgeous blue hammock.  Mom and Dad actually held him up while the bean bag was placed strategically below as an added safety measure.  Thankfully I know a thing or two about editing, so I can capture beautiful shots like this without any of the risk.

On a side note, Mom brought along this cool hammock specifically for the baby photos.  I love it when parents get creative for our shoots!  The little guy loved chilling out in the hammock – I think it actually made him more relaxed for the rest of the shoot!  I even managed to catch a smile in one of his photos…a rare occurrence with newborns.  I can’t wait to see him again in a few months for his next shoot.  I photographed mom’s maternity shoot too, so I’ve been looking forward to seeing this little guy!

Please be sure to choose a photographer that focuses on safety – especially with newborns.  I took a class on newborn safety and I never take any chances with these precious little ones.

Studio newborn sessions are always special… but add a big sister to the mix and my heart melts every time 🤍

This sweet baby girl was absolute perfection, and watching her big sister step into her new role was such a beautiful thing to capture. The gentle touches, the proud smiles, the quiet moments in between — these are the images that become family treasures.

Newborn photos aren’t just about your newest little love. They’re about telling the story of how your family grows. ✨

Think you need a reason to book family photos? Here’s why you don’t.

This beach session wasn’t for a birthday, milestone, or special announcement.

Just a mom, a dad, and their son — showing up together and letting the moment unfold 🤍

They laughed, walked along the shore, held hands, and soaked each other in. When they saw their gallery, they loved the images so much they created a gallery wall for their home — a daily reminder of this season of life.

Because this is the reason.
The connection. The bond. The moments that pass too quickly.

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect” excuse, this is it.
Let’s plan a just because family photoshoot — for the love you’re living right now.
