Newborn safety is of utmost importance in my studio!
People are always asking me how I get newborns to pose for baby photos. Many are surprised when they realize how many steps are actually involved each pose. I firmly believe in putting safety first, so I always use a second (and sometimes third) set of hands for some of my more complicated newborn poses. You can’t see this in the final image below, but both mom and dad were helping their sweet little baby boy stay safe in the gorgeous blue hammock. Mom and Dad actually held him up while the bean bag was placed strategically below as an added safety measure. Thankfully I know a thing or two about editing, so I can capture beautiful shots like this without any of the risk.
On a side note, Mom brought along this cool hammock specifically for the baby photos. I love it when parents get creative for our shoots! The little guy loved chilling out in the hammock – I think it actually made him more relaxed for the rest of the shoot! I even managed to catch a smile in one of his photos…a rare occurrence with newborns. I can’t wait to see him again in a few months for his next shoot. I photographed mom’s maternity shoot too, so I’ve been looking forward to seeing this little guy!
Please be sure to choose a photographer that focuses on safety – especially with newborns. I took a class on newborn safety and I never take any chances with these precious little ones.
